What we do for Paramus homeowners

Roof repair in Paramus

Most repair calls here come down to a short list: a pipe boot that has split, chimney or wall flashing that has opened up, a valley worn through, or a skylight that never had a proper flashing kit. We find where the water is actually getting in, which is often not where the stain is, fix that, and show you photographs before and after. Repairs carry a minimum 2-year workmanship warranty on the repaired area. The leak patterns we see across the county are on our Bergen County roof repair page.

Roof replacement in Paramus

Every home roof replacement we do in Paramus starts with a full tear-off down to the wood deck, including any second or third layer of old shingles, so nothing gets covered up. Once the old roof is off we walk the deck, replace boards that have gapped or gone soft, and run ice and water barrier at the eaves and valleys where ice dams push water back up the roof. Then synthetic underlayment and Owens Corning or GAF architectural shingles, with attic intake and ridge venting corrected while the roof is open. Residential replacements carry a minimum 15-year written workmanship warranty, longer depending on the roofing product, plus the manufacturer’s warranty on the materials. More on our residential roofing page.

Roofs for every style of Paramus house

Paramus streets mix Cape Cods, ranches, split-levels, bi-levels and center-hall colonials, and each style has its own trouble spots. On a Cape Cod, a new roof means new step flashing along each dormer wall and ice and water barrier in the valleys beside them. On a split-level or bi-level, every wall where a lower roof meets the house gets new step flashing when the roof is replaced. A low-slope addition or porch behind a ranch needs a membrane, not shingles. On a colonial, the chimney flashing is replaced with new metal, not patched with cement. Larger custom homes bring steep pitches, many valleys and long walls, with a lot of flashing to get right.

  • Roof Replacement

Tear-off to the deck, new wood where needed, and a complete Owens Corning or GAF shingle system.

  • Roof Repair

Leaks at pipe boots, valleys, walls and chimneys, traced to the source and fixed.

  • Emergency Repair

Storm damage and active leaks: a tarp or temporary patch first, then a written plan for the permanent repair.

  • Flat Roofs

Membranes for rear additions, porches and dormers.

  • Skylights

Replace worn-out skylights and flash them correctly.

  • Gutters & Chimney Flashing

New seamless gutters, and chimney flashing.

Storms and leaks

Storm damage and emergency roof repair in Paramus

If a nor’easter, high wind or a falling branch opens up a Paramus roof, the first thing we do is stop the water with a tarp or a temporary patch. Then we document the damage with photos and give you a written plan for the permanent repair.

What we fix after a storm:

  • Shingles blown off or lifted by wind, replaced with matching shingles
  • Flashing torn loose at chimneys, walls and skylights, replaced with new metal
  • Tree damage, with broken boards or plywood replaced before the new shingles go on
  • Ice dam leaks at the eaves, where melting snow backs up under the shingles

Filing an insurance claim for storm or tree damage? Those photos and that written plan are what your adjuster needs. The written workmanship warranty covers the permanent repair. Emergency tarps and temporary patches are not covered.

If a storm has opened your roof, call (201) 881-2431. More on our emergency roof repair page.

Commercial roofs

Commercial roofing for Paramus businesses

From the stores and restaurants on Route 17 to the warehouses along Route 4, Paramus businesses get the same craftsmanship we bring to homes. For commercial flat roofs we offer:

  • Repair, replacement and recover in EPDM, TPO, PVC and modified bitumen
  • Silicone, acrylic and aluminum coating systems, applied to commercial flat roofs
  • Maintenance plans that begin with an inspection, with the work based on the roof’s condition and your requests

Each job begins with a written proposal and a photo report. Noisy work and deliveries are planned around your hours, so you can keep the business open while we work. A commercial replacement or recover comes with a 5-year workmanship warranty, plus a manufacturer system warranty of 15 to 30 years where the roof qualifies, depending on the membrane and how it is installed. Why ProTech

Paramus roofing done with craftsmanship

We are a family-owned roofing contractor, and the motto on our logo is Shelter With Confidence. Here is what that means on your roof:

  • An honest diagnosis. When a repair is enough, that is what we recommend, and the photos show you why.
  • An estimate you can read. The scope, each material by name, the price and the warranty terms, all in writing before work begins, with no vague line items.
  • Every layer, installed properly. Decking, ice and water barrier, underlayment, flashing, ventilation, then the shingles or membrane, each put down to the manufacturer’s specifications. Following them also protects your product warranty.
  • Respect for your property. Plantings, AC units and walkways are covered before work starts, our crews work tied off, and at the end a magnet sweep picks up stray nails before we walk the finished job with you.
  • Registered and insured. NJ HIC Reg. #13VH12667100, with general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. We can send you a certificate of insurance before work begins.
  • Financing options. Mention financing when you get your estimate and we will walk you through the options.

Whether your Paramus home needs a roof repair, a full roof replacement, a new flat roof on an addition, or new gutters, skylights or chimney flashing, one call reaches a roofer who treats your home like their own.

What Paramus homeowners can expect

Every quote is word for word from Google. Read them in full there, where we cannot change a word.

  • “ProTech Roofing provided a diagnosis and plan to repair a leak in my roof at a reasonable price and in the time frame I required. Ervin and his team worked quickly and efficiently to repair the leak on schedule. It rained heavily a day after the job was completed and there was no leak, demonstrating Ervin’s diagnosis and repair were correct and effective.”

    — Ed L., Google review
  • “Ervin and his crew were professional, easy to communicate with, and showed up on time. They found an issue with the valley that ended up needing a full replacement instead of a simple repair, and explained everything clearly before moving forward with the extra work. The job was finished neatly, everything looks solid, and they cleaned up well after.”

    — Shirong L., Google review
  • “Did an excellent job with roof repairs and ice removal. Approximate time and care was given to the task, which was great to see.”

Questions

Paramus roofing questions

What roof leaks do you fix on Paramus homes?

We fix leaks at pipe boots, valleys and skylights and at chimney and wall flashing, and we replace wind-lifted or missing shingles with matching ones. We follow the water to the place it really enters, fix that spot with new metal and matching materials, not just caulk, and photograph the roof before and after. Each permanent repair has a minimum 2-year workmanship warranty on the repaired area, in writing.

Can you handle gutters, skylights and chimney flashing as well?

Yes. We put up new seamless gutters and downspouts, swap worn-out skylights for new units with new flashing kits, and handle chimney flashing work, from step flashing and counter-flashing to crickets and chase covers. Thinking about gutter guards with your new gutters? We will give you an honest opinion on whether the trees around your house make them worth it.

How do you decide between a roof repair and a replacement?

We go over the entire roof, and the attic if we can get in, and photograph what we find. A single failed flashing on an otherwise sound roof is priced as a flashing repair. Shingles that are curling or worn bare, with leaks in more than one place, are priced as a replacement, and we explain the reasons. When a repair will solve the problem, you hear that from us.

My Cape Cod gets ice dams every winter. Can a new roof fix that?

It can help a lot. Ice dams form when attic heat melts snow that refreezes at the cold eaves. A new roof lets us add ice and water barrier along the eaves and improve intake and ridge ventilation. Air sealing and insulation at the attic floor finish the job.

Is there a charge for the inspection and estimate?

No. Looking at the roof, taking the photos and writing up the estimate cost you nothing, and there is no obligation. Call (201) 881-2431 or fill in the form on this page.

Do you work on stores and other commercial roofs in Paramus?

Yes. For stores, restaurants, warehouses and other commercial buildings in Paramus, we handle repairs, replacements and maintenance on modified bitumen, TPO, PVC and EPDM roofs, and we apply silicone, acrylic or aluminum coatings to commercial flat roofs.

Do you work in my part of Paramus?

Yes, anywhere in town: Arcola, Spring Valley, Fairway Oaks, Dunkerhook, the streets along Paramus Road and everything in between, plus the rest of Bergen County. Call (201) 881-2431 and we will set a time to look at your roof.
